Google Gets Naughty?
Here's a bit of amusement for your Friday, straight from Search Engine Land: Bug Turns Google "Anti-SafeSearch" On, Provides Porn Results. Basically, if you do an "impossible search" on Google that involves numbers in any way -- say, tell it to search for a page without the number 4 on it that also contains the numbers 1 and 4, or that doesn't contain an s but contains notation like s2 -- instead of returning no results, as it should, Google returns porn links.
This was pointed out on Quora, and a Google engineer answered with a thank you, and that that was a genuine bug they didn't know about and were now working to fix. Personally, I think it's kind of poetic: ask Google to do the impossible, and it gets "naughty." Heck, who wouldn't get naughty if you ask them to do the impossible?
