Free non reciprocal links

Hello.How is everybody?
I submitted some sites of mine to a bunch of
internet directories.I always chose the free
with no reciprical links options.
Some of them immediatley replied and accepted my sites.

Others said the wait could be 4 weeks to months. The thing
is,all said they would reply if it was accepted or not.
Since my experience is very little I was wondering,
do these sites actually reply if you aren't accepted?
Does anybody have much experience with this?

Maybe it would of been best to include
recipriacal links on my sites but I really don't want to
mess the pages up with all these links.
Any help much appreciated.
Thank you

Thanks for the reply.
They help just a small fraction? Are
reciprical links much better than none reciprical links?
You have to wait forever to get a reply.
So these free directories are worthless?

What I'd like to know is how one can get
substantial traffic at low to zero financial cost.

I'm a coder and am completely new to this search engine stuff.

in general one-way IBLs is better than reciprocals.

in other cases, related recip. links is better than non-related one-way IBLs

Going for reciprocal links with these web directories of "little worth" is a completely waste practice. Keep that out of your mind and dont go for a reciprocal exchange with these directories, would be of no help.

What's interesting is I only submitted to directories that
had at least a minimum google rank.I mean what is a
valid directory without a google rank?It seem worthless to me.
I have to study this seo stuff though and quick.
Don't know where to begin yet.

Smile

One-way links are always beneficial and no chance of penalty. Reciprocal link exchange will be risky if we do link exchange with link farm.

Thanks for the reply. What I'd really like to know though is do theses sites always inform you if you've been accepted or rejected?

here is a question in regards to this...what if on the reciprocal links he used rel="nofollow", assuming they weren't using similar tactics wouldn't that make the reciprocal link look like a back link only in the search engines?

My apologies for asking a question to get some clarity. I wasn't aware that search engines were as sophisticated as the borg collective.

FYI you dunno wut the borg collective is.

A Voyager fans, play nicely now

With regards to using listings in free directories to generate backlinks for your site, i think that there are more effective free ways of generating one way links

Article marketing is very effective. Imagine for a moment that you right a really good article on free directories and submit it to an article site. Your article gets published [that's one free backlink to your site], other people see your article, some run blogs and websites and and a hundred of them use your article on their sites [that's ahh 101 backlinks generated]

Need I say more?
