I'm tasked with building a B2B ecommerce store for a start-up company. The company currently has no web presence and an opportunity has arisen to acquire the domain name for a direct competitor who is in the process of being dissolved. The competitor has asked me to submit a bid for the domain but I havent got a clue whether I should bid for it or how to go about valuing it. Some supporting facts:

1. The domain is short (5 characters) memorable and relevant to the nature of the business.
2. According to Alexa, the domain has been around for 7 years, has 59 Google backlinks, 80,000 daily pageviews, 232 inbound links and a Google PankRank of 4.
3. Websoutlook.com values it at $15,000

If I was to acquire the domain, how should I best use it to take advantage of its current natural rankings? We'll be building a completely new ecom platform so there's no scope for migrating the current site across. I believe the current site will simply be switched off at some point in the future.

Many thanks for any help and advice you can give.
