Is this correct? Parked Domain / 301 Redirect

    Hello,

I want to park mydomainnamewithouts.com to mydomainnamewiths.com I read that if i use parked domain from cpanel it would show on google as duplicated content.

I read that I can add this to my htaccess file.

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^parkeddomain.com$
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.maindomain.com/$1 [R=301]

But I already have something like that on my htaccess file.

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^mydomainnamewiths\.com
    RewriteRule (.*) http://mydomainnamewiths.com/$1 [L,R=301]

Since I already have the samething in my htaccess I was thinking about adding

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^mydomainnamewithouts\.com

To what's already there like this

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^mydomainnamewithouts\.com$
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^mydomainnamewiths\.com
    RewriteRule (.*) http://mydomainnamewiths.com/$1 [L,R=301]

My question: Is this OK to use like that? Since I am not using cpanel parked domains feature and only using htaccess file would it show as duplicate content at google?

First you need to check the mydomainwithout.com is it redirecting to mydomainwith.com? If it is, you then need to find out if it is doing a 302 redirect or a 301 redirect. Generally if you do it through domain forwarding it will produce a 302 redirect and so any links going through mydomainwithout.com will not get valued. Also robots will think that mydomainwithout.com is only temp redirecting so will keep checking to see when it will stop redirecting.

If it is 302 redirecting i would set the nameservers to mynamewith.com so both websites display the same website and then in the .htaccess state that if the url has mynamewithout, 301 redirect to mynamewith.

    That would fix the problem.

Thank You for the reply seomonkeymanocp,

I forgot to mention that the domain mydomainwithout.com was just registered.

I just checked and it is sending back a 302

EDIT: I think i fixed it.

    I've added RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^domainnamewithout.com$ [OR]

    TO

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^domainnamewithout.com$ [OR]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^mydomainnamewiths\.com
    RewriteRule (.*) http://mydomainnamewiths.com/$1 [L,R=301]

I did a check to see if it gives back 301 and it does.

Does parked domain redirect only works for / root directory?

I have parked domain redirect working but I'm wondering if someone goes to lets say domainnamewithout.com/forum gets redirected to domainnamewith.com/forum will they be able to see the forums? or get an error message?

I get this error http://domainnamewith.com/forum//home/xxxxxxxx/public_html/forum in the url box.

    re: 301 redirect

Very simple way to 301 redirect all parked domains to "www" version of main domain would be

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www."maindomain".com$
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www."maindomain".com/$1 [L,R=301]

And you need to lose "" around "maindomain" , as forum does not permit to publish any links for new users
Also maindomain needs to be replaced with your own.
