Can I make Backlinks on Footer

I recently started a angry birds gaming site.I want add its backling on my tech blog`s footer, is it ok?
I mean will google penalize me about this? I know this may sound silly, but i don`t want to take risk anyway that is why m askin.
May be, that footer link is considered as over optimization as it will appear in all 200+ pages of my blog.

No, it will not penalize. But it will be good to do follow link it from main page and add no follow attribute to other page links.
