Hey Mods... Actually, was the thread starter conned... or, is he a competitor to them. Should SEO Chat have first time posters flaming companies? I think not. If the poster was a member of SEO Chat we could all discuss it and assist. This is this guys first post.

That was my first thought but then figured that a first post bash would probably take their licks in the forum and give our new member a chance to speak up if the complaint is legit.

I think one important point is that any company that claims it can guarantee results in a week etc. etc. is probably either going to be doing something that will harm your site in the long term (i.e. black hat stuff) or they will do nothing.
If there is one thing I have learned about SEO, it is that it is a long game, and a one that is personal to each website.
If and SEO company said "we can improve your rankings in the automobile industry" for example, it may be worth taking a look. But a company that claims to be able to improve your ranking in any area are probably going to just add you sites to a group of directories / pages that they run and spam a few blogs or something. At least that is what I would do if I were tryin to make quick cash that way.
I suppose for balance we need the opinion of someone that works for a large SEO company to say what practices they use, how they work, do they have a code of conduct, rules on spamming, if they own directories etc. There are so many companies around that are willing to help small websites for a fee. Maybe we should have a thread dedicated to SEO company reviews etc.?
