Any insights on google local adwords

My site, www.bartending-school.com is ranked well nationally in google, yahoo, and MSN, for generic keyword phrases like bartending school, etc. Our web traffic onto the site is twice that of last year and we're happy with the activity. I'm curious about the impact of locale google adwords. Is anyone using this? Clearly our customers are probably 99% regional. I'm wondering if any of you are seeing a positive impact from this, especially the various media that use google adwords. We aren't that concerned with phrases like bartending school Maryland DC or Virginia since we already rank high in all those categories in virtually all the search engines.
