Trick to increase the web reputation

I use Google Alerts a lot. It's far from perfect but I find that setting up some alerts for the company name can sometimes return some interesting things that I want to respond to.

There are also some third party brand reputation services.

+1 for Google Alerts. Works well. I'm surprised not a lot of people (at least that I know of) use it. It's actually a gem.

In addition to google alerts, it's worth keeping an eye on your keywords and brand names in google discussions - the results are sometimes different. This way you'll know what people are talking about your brand and jump in to respond.

Also keep track of your referrals in Google Analytics - these are also your mentions.

Sometimes I'll search reviews for my site and I'll search my "my site name forums" to see what people are saying, also helps check any issues that may not be reported through Bizrate.
