Site Search - Which One?
We have a very large glossary that we have finally decided to put a search function within the glossary instead of people having to go to the alphabet organized pages and then scrolling down. I played with a Google search button for a while but found the results page to be 80% ads with only 20% our search results. Others may like that... but I think it is fugly.
Is there a good, free, site search engine that will not garbage up the results like Google does?

Have you thought of using a php search script. I suppose you'd have a lot more control over the results with one of those. I'm quite new to php, so it's just a suggestion, but it might be worth testing.

seogoat... Thanks. What is funny is that the php seach script page is telling how to incorportate search, BUT they, on their same page, are using the Google search that I am trying to get away from.

If the script works, the Google one is the easiest choice, so they probably don't have time to implement the php script or something, even though it could be quite effective. I know what you mean though it's crazy they aren't using one of them.
