Realtime Search Engine

Do you guys think is is possible or if there is any point to a realtime search engine?
By realtime i mean as you submit it the engines include it and you can find it immediately.
If they can add it in a day or so they can speed the process up and add it in a second.

Is it possible,, pheasable or is there any point doing this?

Haven't you ever heard of Infoseek? All real-time search engines do is create real-time SEO wars and real-time technology nightmares.

Google and most of the majors would argue that they'd rather find sites naturally through links since, in their opinions, a site that is unlinked to is a site not worth indexing...

I'm sure it could be done, but is it likely or plausible? I don't think so.

Its an interesting question.

I guess if search engines worked like that, well they're not search engines anymore. No longer crawling for links to sites, no longer using the information to index...

Its like a well kept database isn't it. You could let website owners add their own sites stright into the index themselves in a specific category (DMOZ?). Thing is spam is always a problem, thats why you can't submit straight in. Assigning authority then needs to not be reliant on links, but on pure content. It them gets important to discuss issues that other sites you would like to be associated with deal with.

Some engines are realtime like traderbot, because all they do is intake a particular type of data very unlikely to be manipulated like regular web data. Traderbot is a search engine for stocks.

This is a classic one for the 2am chat over the last of the wine

I asked the question becuse i was wanting some info that was happening right there and then and it would have been ideal to search a search engine like google to find out the info.

I wanted the info within 3 minites of the event happening.
For me to find the info in google i will have to wait 8, 9 or 10 months to get it becuse of the sandbox on new sites and information.
I dindnt have time to wait 8 months so i went to the bulletin boards to find it.
As it happens it took 10 minites to find the info and it was old news by then anyway.

I love real time search !

Oh I wish they went back to this.

Check the refresh dates and then rank accordingly . I pray they go back to this style of finding information.

It makes the information you get the latest! New and exactly what you want.

Course if you want to manipulate the worlds information you wouldn't like that ie.google it wouldn't allow them to show us only what they want us to see.

Again its a battle of " ethics " vs " relevancy "

I think that is close to what was called "trused feeds", we all know how successful that was :-)

Without resorting to some kind of tricks, I don't think Google could apply their algorithm in real time to a page. I think it'd take too much processing time.

I was thinking of building somthing in a smaller size.. for each page and see the diffrence ...
but you can really tell...
The only best way is running ten test ... each month and see what works.

hahaha sorry about that. It was just that honestly, I was trying out out, and this was the first result. I shouldn't have been so cocky, but it was too good to miss.
