It depends upon many factors. Onpage, dependent upon how often you get crawled by the se bots, can be as quick as 24 hours or as long as a month or so. Off-page can take considerably longer.
SEO is never really done. In SEO you are either rising in the SERPs or falling in the SERPs. It takes work even to maintain your current position. This is called competition.

SEO by defenition never ends. And to put a time on seeing results from work done would greatly depend on what the work done actually was. As SEO_AM says, it could be anything from 24 hours to 24 months for various changes to take effect.

It is not fixed but continuous effort of onpage & offpage optimization would deliver a desired result within 25 to 30 days.

"on page"... optimizing everything that has something to do with & is coded on a specific page. "off page"... optimizing everything that has something to do with a page or website but not coded on that specific page or website. |

Competition can never go in a dead end, it only builds up and if you want to be on top, read, experiment, wait, observe to learn and you will learn to just go on with SEO as a continuous process.

A rough guide if you are good, it all depends on the competitivness of the phrases though:
4 months with a brand new site. 6 weeks with an established one. MSN 2 weeks with a brand new site. 2 weeks with an established one. Yahoo 4 months with a brand new site. 1-8 weeks with an established one. Last edited by David Eaves : February 10th, 2007 at 06:19 PM. |

No answer can be given (for some keywords you can make it in less than a month; for others you may need a few years) - it depends of competition; the higher the competition the longer it takes.

Well I trust his answer more than yours... case in point. I have an established website thus: 6 weeks with an established one. MSN 2 weeks with an established one. Yahoo 1-8 weeks with an established one. I want to rank #1 for SEO & Search engine Optimization Since there are no exceptions. ...and if you can't do it then we know that your word can't be trusted. |
