melissa, there is no one thing to do with seo. you need to read up on the two main categories of seo
-on page optimization -off page optimization There are thousands of ways to optimize your site. You need to read up on them and make an educated guess as to what will work best for you. |

Seo
I dont physically know how to do seo myself but from i have seen, making sure home page is interlinked with other pages in your site is important as well, but from what ive seen linking is king, u must get alot of relevant high pr links pointing to you.

I agree, I would like to say concentrate on speed optimization more than anything else. I noticed the page hitches on my cablemodem, that means it likely never loads completely on a 56k dial-up connection and some of us even get anal on a cable conn... And I am correct, your site's load-time for a dial-up customer is 97 seconds... Start working on this, knock it down over time, and time it will take so don't get discouraged because you won't see much of a difference until you get below 24 seconds. A second test revealed 74 seconds, perhaps there appears some lag issue but for real, your site's images are killing you! For an example, here is the tool I use: http://r.netmechanic.com/gifbot/gif...ic&outputtype=3 Notice on the light side you can knock off 77% of file on just ONE image, saving you 25 seconds in one fell swoop, the next image I tried gave me another easy 6 seconds off - There's 31 seconds off in 5 minutes work, you might come in under 25 seconds before you know it. On the hardcore side you can almost use the 88% image on the example, if you don't mind a bit of gloss-loss, I am fairly certain your site's visitors will hardly notice while it gives you another 3 second edge. Do that optimization thing for ALL your images, I can almost guarantee you will notice the difference... The code appears in order thou a w3c validation might not hurt. p.s.: The direct link for the Gifbot is: http://www.netmechanic.com/GIFBot/optimize-graphic.htm (scroll down a bit, on the left side is info you fill out). yes there are two categories. on page and off page.
but i think, the first most important things that you must know is the purpose of SEO and how much it can help your website. |

I suggest you get involved with a reciprocal linking program, like linksmanager, and most importantly, don't give up!

Good of you to dredge up this thread pingprincess!
The original poster asked this question on Jan 4th 2006 and hasn't posted in the forum since Jan 5th 2006... so I find myself wondering if she still cares!
