this is a stupid question i guess.

how do i search in inktomi?

i believe the answer is i make searches in sites powered by inktomi.

Yeah, if a site is powered by inktomi, it gets its results from inktomi. So that is searching the inktomi database.

The most important ones are probably MSN and Hotbot, but there's a nice list here ...

Also, Yahoo have announced their intention to buy Inktomi (or have they already gone ahead?), so you can expect it to be used in some way by Y! in the future.

Ink is all over my logs about everyday.
I see Ink all over my logs but I am not getting hardly any hits from hotbot. Any suggestions?

I don't know about y'all, but HotBot has dropped off the earth as far as what people use, at least according to the 30 or so sites that I track. I wouldn't worry too much about not getting hits.

Hotbot now only provides results for Google, Inktomi, Teoma & Fast. They don't appear to have their own database, which might be the reason they gave up on the crawling!!

They are now known as a "Meta Search Engine".

Interestingly enough I just did a quick search on Daniella Rogers looking for my daughter’s web site in http://search.positiontech.com/ and I had the adult filter on. It came up with nothing. Then I did it with the filter off and everything about her came up. I noticed that there is an adult porn star named Daniella. Is this going to be a problem?
