JavaScript and SE's

I know there are two ways to run JavaScript on your site: onpage and offpage.

I know for offpage JavaScript, search engine's won't see anything there (like it's a blank space).

What about for onpage JavaScript? If you have links in your onpage Javascript (where the script is on that page), will search engines read and follow that link?

IMO they won't - I think the SEs bots keep clear of Java in cases they end up in a loop or worse, I get the feeling they ignore all between the open and close tags.

You could test by creating a page and only linking to it via the java script to see if it gets indexed.

You open a old thread to talk things that i dont even see relevant, you are talking alot of stuff that noone can understand please be serious. If you got a question make a new thread..

you cant really depend on old threads because things changes with time, what is relative today it will not be tomorrow...

My search engines webspider is unable to follow Java links and in most cases it ignores Java.
We spent the last seven months working on a new variant of our webspider that could detect Java links but it was not very reliable and so we dropped it like a hot cake.
A girl I know who is a bright cookie set a test inside her website which was about web spiders, where she would monitor the visits to see if any could find and follow java links, to my knowledge she never had one pass the Java test.
We are now using a few algos to try and detect the content of photos we index by using a data sampler which looks for sequences like a face, a leg , an arm or a tree. So far we are getting some good results back from it.

Javascript is a client side programing method.
Search Engines are search engines.
I can see any big relationship between them

Bring out your dead... clang. Please respect the dearly deceased and start a new thread as opposed to reviving one that has been very peacefully resting since July 18th, 2006, 10:04 AM.

Thanks, Foggy... Thread closed.
