According to Google Patent, it also takes into account domain info or history. Those sites which change their nameservers etc are considered as possible spammers and are frown upon by them. So be stable about that and it will pay your off in the long run....

Sure - why not, seems like you should change it if you need it.
Here is a good resource that The Earl of Grey showed me: http://www.dnsreport.com/

Nameservers, IPs, Contact should be changed only IF absolutely necessary.

While I suppose it's *possible* they could penalize you for switching nameservers, I highly doubt that they actually would. I would imagine that it'd take some egregerious abuse for that to happen.

last december on my secondary site I changed nameservers / hosts, Googlebot visited the site when it did not even exist at the new host yet, and it still ranked like #5 or 6 for "search engine marketing"

I certainly would not change it for no good reason, the mere thought of dealing with DNS issues scares me, there is always a fair chance something doesn't work quite the way it should... At least that has been my experience, you have to wait 48-odd hours for the propagation, it can take forever once a mistake is made. I don't change DNS for nothing. |

I know there is a small boost for very stable sites (registered for a long period; hosted on trusted server; with own IP and which don't change their NS, IP, registrant info, etc) and a small penality for sites that have lots of changes.
Anyway both of them are very small in my humble opinia and I don't think they can really make the difference. But if you're like me and count every bit than it's a good idea to be conservative when it comes about changing any server details regarding your domain.

Changing Name Server
See it is not advisable to change the nameserver too frequently. But changing say when required is not going to have the adverse effect. For example your site is hosted
and you change the host provider say after year becoz that host provider you opted now is more stable, providing some other xyz benifits and is not indulging in spam will have no adverse effect. But lets visualize a scenario where a webmaster is chnaging name server say every three months google may not consider this as a good sign for long stability. Well when I first posted my query in seo chat in this very thread from that time till now I have not seen anything like google penalysing my sites. More important is to check site down time.Down time should be curtailed to 0.Down time is not a good practise. For this I have seen adverse or negative impact not only on google but on yahoo, msn. |

As far as I know, search engines wouldn't like it when name servers are being changed frequently.
