does inktomi power MSN??

I ask this because I rank #9 for a keyword in HOTBOT, yet #56 in MSN. I know MSN uses Looksmart sites near the top, and i've read they are dropping them if they have not already. Is my site tjhat far back in MSN because there's so many more Looksmart listings ahead of me, or is it another factor? I really need to start working on my MSN listings now...

Hey Tyler,

Just look at the web pages results... these should be close to the hotbot ones. If you are in a competitive market or the term is sponsored a lot, then there is a good chance you can end up that far back on msn... and that to date, is still why those serps absolutely 'b**w chunks'

But yes, ink does power msn

Sam

Yeah, the term is a little competitive. Mostly little Ma and Pa sites that pay for sponsor listings to be near the top, and their site has nearly no SEO going for it, and have 1 - 2 PR, if not 0.

Another term i'm #7 in inktomi, yet #56 in MSN. That's ridiculous if MSN uses inktomi, yet put paid listings ahead. When is MSN dropping Looksmart, and will there be new paid listings jumping in when this happens?

Is my only chance to get on the first page in MSN to pay for it? My main terms are 'Soy Candles' and 'Scented Candles'.

so the 'tweak' is a #1 page listing and a 5th page listing for a main keyword of mine. That's a big tweak!

MSN and ink must have done something over the past week. I have gone up by 100% on my ranking and hits from MSN. Hope the same will hold true when Yahoo is on board. Then I can stop playing daily guess the google rankings.
