Best way to find ALL backlinks

What's the best way to identify all backlinks to a site, not just PR4 and not even just Google?

As I recall one of the other search engines has a more comprehensive list, but I don't recall how to get that information.

Thanks for any advice.

That only shows you how many PAGES you have indexed and not backlinks Jocelyn. Or am I missin' something?

Try it PK... the 2 second commands remove your pages from the list and only leaves the pages you have links on. Some will be non text links because they are javascript... but they are links.

www.domain.com -site:www.domain.com

type this in google and it will show all the webpages which have put the text www.domain.com
this command will not show all the backlinks if they link using just normal text containign keywords or company name ..

but this command is useful becoz many do place the URL also while linking to ur website ....

manual link popularity checking:

format your search text as follows to 'manually' view a pages link popularity:
if your page is 'mypage.com' then...

at google.com—
link:www.mypage.com

at hotbot.com—
linkdomain:www.mypage.com

at altavista.com—
link:www.mypage.com

at alexa.com—
link:http://www.mypage.com

at msn.com—
linkdomain:www.mypage.com

at alltheweb.com—
link:http://www.mypage.com

another less fancy method that works with all search engines is to type:
"http://www.mypage.com/" into any search box.
this will generally give similar results.

another note:
google 'link:' results will not list all pages linking to your page.
the results will generally only include pages with pagerank or higher.
therefore...the "http://www.mypage.com/" may give you additional results not shown in the link: query.
