Snap.com

What is with snap.com?

I checked out this search engine and found the worst possible results.

I searched several low competition keywords and phrases (it is easier for me to judge this way), the one that stood out was "Medicated Wonder Shell" (without quotes).

This search engine took me to totally irrelevent sites and not to this at all.

Google, Yahoo, and MSN all produce reasonable results for this search, but not snap.com

Is this search engine meant for different kinds of searches?

Well. Snap is not for different kinds of searches, however there database is relatively limited.Snap will not offer comprehensive listings for obscure search terms, they are simply not good enough yet.

I certainly would not count these folks out. Some of the lead folks were involved in starting www.goto.com which became www.overture.com which became

http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/

Talk about blunders...I was an original GoTo.com customer in 1999 and they offered all clients the opportunity to buy shares before they went public. Did I do it???

As Homer Simpson says.....DOH!

I definitely think that snap will have improved listings over time, found out that their SERP's are supposed to reflect behavioral data, maybe their isn't much data on the phrases you have searched for.

I would kind of doubt, but then maybe they are going for a very strange angle in searches.

I even tried my own name (which an about me page comes for this or even my High School is entered on the Big Three).

It looks more like a sandbox problem for certain sites or blogs, even when new certain keywords would work to find URLs in Google, this is how I have tracked my SEO progress in Google and others (even more so on MSN, as they seem to respond very quickly and favorably to change).
