Yes, they have an experimental new crawler.
From what I can gather it will power the next version of MSN.com search, and is currently crawling and indexing a subset of the sites it receives from its search partners (both paid and non). |

Looks like they just updated their useragent to include this URL. |

symetrix,
thanks for the link... i never did look into my logs to see the user-agent. hmm... sounds like m$ is a long ways away from implementation. probably evaluating what their investment is going need to be. i'm quite surprised it's taken them this long to get serious about 'web search'. |

MSNBOT was killing my site yesterday. I suspect they wont do anything with this data until they dump (or get dumped) by Inktomi.

"What Google has done in terms of doing a great end-user experience has led us to basically go back and redouble our efforts," Microsoft Vice President Yusuf Mehdi, who oversees the MSN division, said at a conference held by investment bank Goldman Sachs last month. "We are investing a lot to build what we expect and hope will be the best-in-class search service in the near future."
from this source: http://news.com.com/2009-1032_3-1020641.html?tag=fd_lede1_hed looks like M$ is going to be very serious about "search". i had read before (6 months or so) that M$ was focusing on improving search features for future versions of Windows.... evidentally they've seen the power in "search" and want "web search" to be their next monoply! yikes... and i thought it was bad that google controlled the majority of se listings! |

Yup, according to another article, MS also plans to implement their search engine into future versions of internet explorer.
The article said that MS will point the search to their results by default, but it will be "configurable" to avoid lawsuits. Bye bye google.... |
