Hello,

I would like to know if people in DE, CH etc use local search engines and if they do wich are most used and also please provide any info u might have about them.

People in Germany and Switzerland like to use Google, by the way

And while the majority has no problems reading English stuff, most of them prefer to read pages in their own language: mainly german and also a bit of french in switzerland.

You may want to optimise your pages for foreign languages instead of foreign search engines

The right strategy would to have different sections of the sites for different parts of the world.

Sites are for Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Czech Republic. It is optimized for their lang, I was wondering about local search engines (site is dating related).

...but they don't say which SE is used more than others.

Have you spa..... erm ... targetted the local directories yet? As in: somedirectory.ch etc.......

There are some local search engines used in some countries that I know of, for example Italians have things like Tiscali and Virgilio and I know there is a huge Chinese one I can't recall the name of right now.

But Google seems to be the biggest in European languages, there is a version of Google for most languages:
