Internet users helping to develop Alternative Search Engines
Hi there,
The thread's inspired from surfing through different search enigne forums where I noticed a firm tendency: alternative search engine discussions are not mere as hot as Google or Yahoo forum posts.. Honestly, I think that in 21st century of free market & multiple choice, we are free to choose between Coke or Pepsi, Ipod or Zune, IE or Mozilla Firefox, the list is long...so why not to have a variety of equally strong search engines? Of course Google, Yahoo , Live are going to remain recognized brands but what concerns me most is the sustainable development of Internet technology, not just boosting G's rivals and competitors in search engine market.
Nowadays, when the net is also user-controlled, we can freely contribute to alternative search enigne incubator creation (giving new standards for Internet content indexing and search) thus promoting the development search engine market. It is already an on-going process and the good news is that it doesn't require any financial resources. Just some willingness to help. The concept assumes involving Internet users like you and me into competitive Internet making by contributing some of our time and computer resources to creating a massive library of standardized and well structured information about web sites. And what's best, its an open access data repository so any thematic and/or general search enigne can use the strorage. I am one of the first volunteers and it gives me a feeling that I'm involved in a far going process.
