Guess the domain was on sale ;)

Seriously, I think the concept is quite nice, except of course that if I enter my main keyword phrase, only pages with my backlinks show up. I thought I was well passed that stage by now ;) LOL - this SE makes me feel like an "absolute newbie" again (Didn't Madonna once make a song about a similar thing???)

And my site IS listed (maybe not all pages), but it only ranks for more obscure phrases. So it made me wonder about the algo (which might be very advanced) AND about the sources of the data... Where does it pull its results from?

Well its powered by 4 main search operators, IdSpidy, its own spider that collects infomation for IddyBlock which decides if the site shall be allowed to enter the listings. Both 'Id' pets (Well php spiders) are IDSE unique.

Powered by:

Idspidy!
IddyBlock!
Yahoo
Google API
All the web

The domain is only temp and this is reverted back into Beta 0.6.
Wit, what keywords and what site? I have updated the algo to base around 004 binary of sites to make results more pure.

Don't worry (well - I guess you don't ;) ), this particular site doesn't NEED to be indexed on any search engine. I just got used to it ranking #1 for my main two-worder (which i'm not going to post here for various reasons - heh)

Cool mix though. I'll keep an eye on it to see where it goes. Have fun

Ah, but the change you apparently just made DOES include my site, only there's this very old story page on #1. I have seen that result before, mostly on very obscure (Dutch) search engines. I never saw that one on Google, but that is of course the point of a meta search engine.

That funny #1 hit has a very large "snippet" by the way... I wonder how they forced that.

I also like the fact that - for that same query - you list JasonTNYC's directory, the one he doesn't want backlinks pointed towards ;) ;) Guess he's more popular than he expected OR he did a great job SEOing it and it's just what he expected. Either way it's very interesting.

Anyway, nice tweak already.

FYI - I'm searching for the dutch word for tabletennis, combined with my city (no quotes).

Did you search for sites in 'Dutch' from 'Europe' if you did, I see not reason why you would not get the results you desire.

Well, as I said, it's better now than it was yesterday. I DID try the Dutch option and for some reason it was filled with English language sites. Right now it's very relevant, but that's probably because it looks a lot like Y and G combined.

I miss the heavy "duplicate filtering" though. Even if - earlier - my site got lost in that filter in the international version. Then again - I now have 4 pages in the first 7 when limited to Dutch. But from a USER's perspective that dup filter (like Clusty's for example) could be very useful. Provided the results are relevant of course.

Now please don't take my example as a typical case. There are very few people in my (non-commercial) field actually performing SEO. The sites that CAN compete with mine are either very OLD, or belong to very BIG clubs or authorities. None of them are submitted to lots of international directories for instance. I guess it's hard to measure relevance in my case. If you go by all the known directories, I'd be on top (which is fine AND relevant) but other clubs in the neighbourhood would get lost. So that would be good for me, but not for the searchers... I guess that will always be the SE/SEO clash.

soapbath - I like it a lot. I take it you have tweaked it some more...

One question (for now): is it possible to make the search phrase persistent if you move from - say - Web search to Images. Or do you clear the search box on purpose?

.

Its done so that searchs are not persistant for a results reason (the learning gets a bit odd when persistents is on). As you have helped alot Wit I shall fix it when I insert Video and Sound search.
