How does Alexa use its own rank??
Hi.
Was just wondering. How does Alexa use its own rank? AFAIK, Alexa just displays Google results! What is the role of Alexa rank in this? Why do people try to increase their Alexa rank and care about it so much? |

alexa is not accurate at all, however it's another way to evaluate one site's popularity. the higher rank "maybe" means more people is visiting

In my opinion, it is completely useless. It only tracks down visitors via the toolbar that you can download from their site. The more people that visit your site with that toolbar, the higher your ranking. However, you can get thousands of visitors that do not have that toolbar, yet still, Alexa will say that no one has visited your site.
One thing to look out for are sites looking for advertisers because they claim to have a high ranking with Alexa. Always ask for other sources. Alexa ranking can easily be manipulated. Just download the toolbar yourself... and visit your site often. You'll see what I mean. |
