Exclamation Robots & Spiders - what direction do they crawl? Please help!!

Hello all,

I was under the impression that when optimizing a site, the tags are to go on top of the page. I read that this was so the spiders can crawl the information faster.

Today I was told (word of mouth) that the robots have started to crawl from the bottom of the page up. I have not heard anything about this - is this true?
