Nofollow

Hi guys

Do any of you know if spiders do or do not follow nofollow?

I know the answere is in the question but i have been doing some research on a competitor and they are showing links from wikipedia> I checked the code and it clearly has the nofollow atribute, so how does it show as a link?

Thanks

Just because it shows as a link (which let's face it, it is isn't it) doesn't mean that it passes any value. Google Webmaster Tools and Yahoo Site Explorer both show nofollowed links, but again it's not evidence that either of them use those links to pass value.

Is there any evidence that shows they dont use them?

Would kinda make sense if they did, isnt that tag supposed to stop the crawler?

I read this on wikipedia, and the advice they give on there is google/yahoo visit the link but they do not include the link into the search results (unless it was already there)

people argue both ways in this argument. My personal thoughts are that the links are still good for driving traffic, however, the links are not followed by search engines. aka no link love. Like i said, just my thoughts.

I got the same issue. I still do a lot of commenting in dofollow blogs. The purpose is to gain quality traffic. And when we check inbounds link with yahoo, We saw link that come from nofollow blog. My personal it is no value for search engine as a backlink. I dont know how yahoo show up them as a inbound link.

Yes, definitely they are followed by robots. Google says it wont pass Page Rank for no follow tags, but other search engines may.
