Google indexing lag time?

Here is a question I am sure someone here will know the answer to.

I have a fairly new website (almost 2 months) I am building, googlebot has visited 3 times now, but nothing ever shows up in any search for the site. Is there a lag time from the time a visit is made, until the site gets put into the index where something will show up in a search?

Secondly, on the first visit, I had the robots command set to "NoIndex" by default in dreamweaver. I have since then changed it to "index, follow" after I discovered it, will this have any affects on the amount of time it will take to get my pages indexed?

Any help will be appreciated!

In my experience there is always a lag time, I wouldn't want to guess but it 'feels' like 3-5 weeks, sometimes, especially lately. If you had no robots, that won't have helped, but if there were separate 'entrance points', then there the site may be spidered-less the homepage. since all lower pages are 'indexes' too.
