Submit to 1500 seaarch engines

OK - I know not to submit to search engines automatically.

BUT once you are in the major search engines and looking for links, is it worth doing this?

Foe example, following advice in an article, I put my sites on jayde .com who co-incidentally offer to submit to 1500 search engines.

I know I'm probably going to get a lot of spam but I'm using an email address I can ditch later if it becomes tiresome.

So are those links worth anything? Do I or don't I?

Gay, if Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Ask in combination get in excess of 85% of all searches, why are you bothering submitting to others? If the others find you.. great!... if not... so what.

Most of the "search engines" aren't really search engines...just FFA pages and some e-mail harvesters. Like SEO_AM said, just focus on the big guys (think of your name: G A Y)...and M.

nothing is more efficient than hand work, it s precise, you look for the best (in this case there are directories included in the search engine word) directories, choose the best description for each one, If you ve got a good Site, and choose the any good directories to submit your website, your job can be done

Will you get some extra links if these search engines have high PRs?

No because SERPs are dynamic. No way for any bot to find the result pages.

Only sites you should be hand submitting to are directories. For search engines let them find you. Most engines dont even have the submit URL forms activated. It submits but really doesn't do anything.

Hotbot was a classic example.

gay...

you should make all of your internal pages link back to your index page on your portrait site.
[include some meaty 'keyword' link text in the these new links.]

also....the link 'please click to enter' does nothing for you.
change this text to include 'keywords'.

since your site is new...you need to get your index[home] page working harder for you.
i assume all of your incoming links will be targetted there.
get more keyword laden text on that page.
dont treat it like a empty doorway.
its your most important page right now.

If you can't get trafic from the few major ones... how good will you do from 1500 unknown ones. Except with the evident spam mail success.

Oops - not quite what I meant

I'll rephrase that. Yes I'm after traffic but the point of the post was whether submitting to the 1500 search engines with one click would include a number of directories that would produce links (ie better pagerank). Spam wouldn't be an issue as I can use a throwaway email address.

Clearly the anser is no - don't bother - but thank you all for the other comments and advice which I will now implement.

you don't need to manually submit to ANY search engine, google msn and yahoo included.

submit manually to a dozen good directories (yahoo, dmoz and some easier to get in ones) and just wait for SEs to pick you up after that
