Search Engine Promotion - Titles and Link Power
Many members may not realize the power of the Meta Title, Page Title, link anchors and link attributes and how these all work together to develop a coherent search engine promotion strategy.
Speaking from experience - most SEOs don't appreciate this relationship either - so for those new to search engine promotion - it isn't about tricks, tactics, techniques, or trade secrets and all about understanding the relationship between titles and links to more titles. I should note that content is still king - but there is a direct relationship to page content / titles and links therefore this post includes titles and links as "content".
Meta Title > Page Title > link anchor > link title attribute > Meta Title > Page Title > backlink anchor > backlink attribute.
This is a topic relationship or "theme" between two pages. Obviously a page which links to another page should have something in common with that first page - common parts are "titles" which pass relevancy through the link inbetween.
A while back - someone coined "Title is your friend" and this so very true.
Just looking at the thread titles here at SEOChat tells me alot about the level of experience a member has for search engine promotion (unless of course they hide their knowledge).
The thread title is scripted to become "on post" the Meta Title, part of the Page Title, and the link anchor to the thread from other pages. Those with experience craft "keyword" related thread titles using less conjunctions, filtered words or stop words. Those with less or no experience and in the "help" mode develop a thread title that may not be precisely consistent with their questions, or comments. (note: for illustration only but keep this is mind when developing your own websites).
If you really want to achieve higher ranks and more visitation this area tends to be the single most "rank" diluting characteristic of all websites I have every viewed.
Using this methodology I consistently rank sites to produce 2K visitation in 1 month, and doubling this by the 3rd month (market dependent).
Remembering that external links are also very important - the same philosophy holds true - you will get more quality performance from any single link (whether one way, reciprocating, or crosslinked through a consistency of Meta Title > Page Title > link anchor > link title attribute > Meta Title > Page Title > backlink anchor > backlink attribute all indicating a similar (not necessarily identical) theme.
