Rank in a search help

Hello I'm new here so I'm not sure what is acceptable posting. I have the following general question, just some simple guidance would be great. I have the following site:

http://www.ferrariforum.net

it ranks #43 for the search term "ferrari"

Now of course I'm biased it being my site but I think it is clearly better than #8

http://www.alfforpresident.com/wood/woodferrari.htm

Which is a few photos of a wood Ferrari on a wood working site.

Is there any real reason for this discrepancies? I always find this and other similar cases very strange. Then again I understand nothing in this world is perfect.

Thanks for any comments.

Welcome to the forum!

The competing site has almost 100 backlinks.
Your's has about 21 and might be one of the reasons.
They don't have a description and this might be an other trick... forcing the use of their 2 word title.
Maybe the anchor text of their links help too.

Get more backlinks...

Your site is not optimized. I am supprised that you rank has high as you do. Hang around this forum for a while a you will pick up a few good tips. But most important, clean up you markup, write better titles, and get links with the correct achortext.

Thanks for the tips. Can you hint a little more what you mean with markup. What is wrong with my anchortext? When you say anchor test do you mean the actual text in href="text" ?
