Hello prowler25.
>submit to over 800,000 search engines and directories
You shouldn't have to submit to search engines if you have good links into your site.

IMO, it's usually better to submit manually to directories.

Please let us know how many directories they actually got you into.

I don't understand these companies anyone still offering 1000000000000000000 submits. Nobody really needs to submit anything anymore. Everything is found via bots. The only thing you need to submit to are quality directories and some charge. Are they offering those free?

And I hope they aren't using bots to submit to these directories as they may be filtered and not allowed through for reviewing.

these companies work because people who are new to seo don't know any better.

My mechanic probably robs me blind ... but i don't know what car parts cost and i need my car so i just pay them.

Could you give us a few examples of the directories and search engines you were submitted to ?

It would be interesting to see the quality.

Most people are new to SEO or SES and will get ripped by these companies as with most search engines send robots out to spider sites
my site which as been online for about 1 year was not well known on the internet so i went with a SES company to give my website a boost as for google it is listed but as for other search engines i could not find the site anywhere so i got it submitted to all search engines and directories and for a fee was low which i thought was cheap compared to all the other companies out there doing the same thing after the submission was done i got a email report which is to big to post so i will give you all a example of where my site was submitted

as all i can see in the report i got was that all search engines i could think off a lot and link pages a few thousands also a few thousands directories from dmoz yahoo etc etc in total it was submitted to around 400,000 as i chose my package with out FFA pages as i heard some bad things about spam

regards

search engines and directories i was given the options of not having my submitted to FFA pages they said i will not get any spam as they use they email for all the spam so i have received about 10 emails asking for confirmation from reputable search engines at the end of the day if they produce a good service i don.t mind paying again the future if it brings traffic which = wage to my site its money well spent!!

It is better to be away with such companies. One of my client used it before comming to us and when we checked their sites, it was submitted to FFA's, guest books, message boards, blog(comments) etc and that too using some automated tool which gave the site 15 backlinks and most of them junk. What a waste of $3000. I don't know if one could get enough hits from lesser known search engines.

I have just joined this site using 'in the dark' as a user name because I am not a techie. I have been approached by a company that will submit my website to search engines. Now do I pay or improve my knowledge? It seems from your quote that the latter is better. My website appeared on the top ten of Google two years ago but I now understand that they have changed their algorithms. I am not incapable of learning how it is done, but how long is it likely to take me to get back 'anywhere' on Google?
