How to Use Social Media Optimization for Promotion?

I am new to this forum. With my own experience, I have found SMO (Social Media Optimization) as a key to boost website traffic.

Lets share our own experiences with SMO in this thread. So, lets start...

* Use social bookmarking sites such as Digg.com, Del.icio.us, Netscape.com with relevant tags and notes. These tags are really very valuable to search engines.

* Use your blogs for site promotion. Promote your blogs and give a back link to your site. Sumbit stories to digg. Its really a great experience to play with digg and other big boss offering social book marking services.

Don't forget about all the smaller social networking sites. While they may not get the traffic that a place like Digg or Delicious would, you can often stay on the front page longer because there's less competition.

You are absolutely right. These smaller social media sites are also valuable as they will give one way links and good traffic too.
