If you are talking about search engines... there is no need to submit your site to them. Just get some backlinks and they will come to you. You can submit a site map to Google if your site has a large number of pages. Relax and go after backlinks.

There is no need to submit anywhere or to anything more than once. It's just a waste of time that you could spend submitting to other things ;)

You have 2 options:

Submit your site in the search engines and sit back. Your site will be indexed within 45 - 60 days.

If that's a lot of time for you, then start getting backlinks to your site. You may also do a bit of link exchanges. This will help you get indexed much faster.

Ask your self this.

If the search engine uses a copy of your site (cache) to rank it based on an algorithm, how does submitting exactly the same site again make it rank better?

Anser.... It doesn't!

Submit once then let links get your site spidering.

How many times should people wanting a free car ask you for 1 per month?

Once would be too much... wouldn't it?

Search engines really don't care about "your website" they only care about what others thinks are better websites and this is determined by links... no amount of submitting will keep you in results... links will.

That's a great answer to these "should I submit to SE" questions. A "vote" for your site by you (a submission) counts a lot less than a "vote" for your site by someone else (a backlink).
