If you redirect the non-www to the www, or the opposite, you'll only have one set. Then, if you pick to use the non-www, get links to point to the non-www version.

    • dzine agrees : Yup, whichever you choose: do the 301 redirect thing
    • ChillDot agrees : doesnt matter either way, just make sure you redirect one to the other

    ...and pick the one that:

    1) you like best
    2) other websites seem to like best when they link back to you

It will be good for back links to add www but first of all your site needs to be redirect from www to non www version or vice versa.

Choose which version you prefer - the www or non - www. 301 redirect it to that version and all your backlinks, either with www or non-www will be redirected to the version you prefer.

I have sites that require subdomains. For those sites using the www seems to be the most logical approach.

I prefer without www since it makes URL address 4 characters shorter.

First i think you redirect non www link to www. It's better if you use http://www (dot) abc (dot) com

You can simply use 301 redirect on your .htaccess file, it can redirect you www version to non www or vice verse, according to the codes.
