Writing Articles - The SEO benefits

Hey all,

i am suggesting to a client to hire a company out to write new articles for them so that not only do they expand their site out but they also get to submit the articles to article directories also.

basically that there are lots of benefits to growing your site by writing new articles

Thoughts?

IMO, it's one good way to promote your site. Just make sure there's a link pointing back to your site, and that the articles are relevant, talking about your product benefits, etc.

I think he knows that he seems to be asking about this specific topic.

I have been in charge of starting a blog and working with a blogger. I too am interested in the benefits of article submissions. I would imagine it would be just to reach "new" readers and hopefully drive traffic back to the blog. Other than that, it seems that the article/post would be better on the blog itself.

What are some of the other opinions on this?

Great article will attract people attention and draw them to put your link or that article link on that page. One article can create a good back link if it is on proper place and in proper format.

Submitting article is the good way to get quality content one way link. But if it done properly in ethical way.

Becarful while submitting the same article to many directories may be considered as spam

Submit your articles and see how much traffic you get from them. Then see how many conversions you get from them.

If you are not doing this you are casting your money and time into the wind. If you do track these things you might find that article submission is not as valuable as you think it is.

Absolutely!

I would rather suggest that instead of wasting your hard worked content by submitting them to article articles, start a blog on your site and post them there.

That way you get the benefit of adding fresh content on your site which might get you lots of links (considering the articles are unique and of superior quality)

EGOL agrees: Yes, we spend zero time submitting articles for syndication. ALL articles go on our own site.
Links from syndicated articles are less valuable than links straight to articles on your own site.

writing an article and submitting it to different article directories give more benefits aside from traffic, plus it is better if you used certain kws for that article.

I hope this is not a little off-topic but I am in charge of a blog project and working with a blogger. He is writing articles dealing with the topic of our business (racing) and different products. He is available to meet for a face to face if needed and we have access to him in other capacities. Of course my boss is trying to crack the whip by trying to get more and more posts from him. I am afraid that my boss is not being realistic. My questions is how much should we paying for the posts of about 400-600 words along with images, videos, etc.

I just am trying to get some information so I can show my boss and see if we are paying too much, too little or just right (which I think we are). Currently we are paying $50 a post.

Any suggestions on where I could get a more accurate assessment on how much to pay?

Feel free to move this post if it is appropriate.

Thanks.

sounds about right to me for someone who is
a. a good writer
b. its not their specialty

I would expects to pay someone more if it was their field of expertise, less if it was poor writing and I had to edit it before going live.

Its not uncommon to pay between $25 and $250 for around 500 words. You can find less expensive and more expensive.

Are these articles bringing you traffic? sparking good discussion? Making you any sales?

Look up Blog writing or SEO writing and get some quotes.

Thanks for the quick response! I will try and get a few quotes and see where that gets me.

The blog is so new (week 3, nine posts) that it is hard to measure the success. He is pretty good considering the subject is not his field.

Tell your boss that DOMAIN popularity is much more important than LINK popularity.

But.. if this guy's post drive traffic then that is what you are paying for.

If they were seeing that they wouldn't be here asking "what's it worth".

...you blogger is likely too expensive... but you aren't paying enough for a successful blog/blogger with a following.

Look around $30K/annum minimum for a full time mediocre blogger... that's about 1 post each day or two... say

3 posts/week x 50 week = 150-300 post total or $100-$200 post [but look at the big picture.

A single paid person... that captures a regular following [that's a following with free many social bookmarks "links"] + solid posts for both longtail searches and more competitive phrase + hot topics...

Individually you'd be paying for dumb-*** posts at $50 X ?/annum, and someone to do links as well, plus link fees and if that isn't an inhouse employee (working full-time) it's outsourced at about $10-20K anyway you slice it for positive results.

... Not to mention as an employee 'blogger you own the copy, as a work for hire the writer owns the copy.
