Which SE to pay and how much?

Ok looking at Bruce Clays Search Engine chart it looks like the ones worth paying for inclusion are-

Altavista
Inktomi Any other recommendations?
Fast
Teoma

For a total of US$158.36 * 1 page each

Now how many pages should a person pay to include in these engines? 2-3-4? Or is it more of how many pages are focused on critical keyword? If you have 5 pages with 8 important keywords then your a fool to only submit one, am I correct here? Or will these sites eventually find the rest of your pages like Google?

Thanks

I have paid the annual fee at inktomi for a number of pages (one page per site)... my experience there is that if you do that, then within a couple of months all pages one or two links deep from the submitted page will be found.

I don't think that I would pay the other services however.

I guess if you have a sheet made where you have a total budget and total cost per click against # of estimated hits.

So if you have 500$ and you have a word that costs 10 cents a click but it expects 5000 clicks you know that word is worth it, basing these words around the outside of your site and somewhat inside for relevancy.

Many words are relevant to searches that some people shun because its not "very relevant" but yet they miss out on alot of clicks that dont cost very much. its all in technique not execution.
