what would you expect from a seo contest?

Hi,

Our company is preparing a seo contest, I would like to have your feedback about several issues

1/ the contest would last 1 year, do you think this is maybe too long?

2/ prizes wil be an amount of money, what amount do you consider that is a fair amount?

3/ which search engines would you include in the contest?, we think about google and yahoo

4/ could you give us some advise about what you consider important to take into account?

Thank you

I know that this will be hard... but try to pick a keyword that is very unusual. Nigritude ultramarine splashed onto a lot of jewelry and mineral sellers - and continues to contaminate those SERPs.

Hello,
that shows how seo contests are becoming a cheap way of doing webmarketing, what i notice is that there are always less people interested in that, one year is very long, 3 or 4 months contests are already a big time (boring), but one year is simply too much. Seo contests are already a lost of time ( i know what i am speaking about and i am not the only one thinking that). Try to find a funny phrase, better than anything else. And good luck for it....

Hi,

I think it would be a great Idea.
Well making a webpage that is top rank in yahoo and google without using two diffrent domain names sounds almost improbable ...

1) Make to contest 4 month starting with a NEW domain that was Created On this XXX date.
2) Make the keyword a hard one that once he finish he can also sell the domain or make profit from it,
because it will bring ALOT of traffic,

2.1) They KeyWord should be somthing like GIFT or that has alot of sponsors once it has sponsor getting top list in google is almost improbable

3) the amount of money should be ( Number of people who enter the site and Registered ) * 0.99$ * TEN-LAST-DAYS
We are talking no less then 1200 an Hour entering the site statisticly 5% will register if you get a . (* Start breaking your bank accont)

To get the keyword go to Overture ....

Whats the name of your compeny?
How many years are you in SEOing?

1) One year is to much time. To have the nigritude ultramarine focus you would need a shorter time frame; 12 weeks tops.

2) I would not enter a contenst for a chance of winning 10.000 USD, my time is better spent doing real work. I would enter a contest to help a nice guy win an ipod. There is a difference.

3) Google only.

Hi Sounds like a great idea.

I think new domain test may be good.
Charging for entry won't see much response and will then not be much of a comeptition.
1 year is definately too long!

Please do email me when you run it - tstolber@lycos.co.uk
The respect and reputation that comes with winning would be worth more to me than a cash prize but why not set it at around $500 - $1000 which seems a sensible amount - given enough response.

Good luck with it

A short time favours those who have existing sites/networks, a longer period gives all a more equal change but makes the competition less hectic (not so big headlines). In reality SEO is a long process, and so should the contest be.

Public networking between SEOs disallowed in rules. In NU competition this had a great affect to SERPS, in real life networking like this happens very, very selectively and behind the scenes.
