Website Optimization VS Backlinking - How important? (Poll)
If you know from experience, or if you had to guess, how important percentage wise out of 100 can be allocated to the optimization within your website itself including all the code, the anchor tags, keywords, title, meta, content, etc. VS backlinking including getting your website URL all over the internet?

I voted 20/80 but its not really that simple. It largely depends on your level of competitiveness for the keywords you are targeting and to some extent the nature of the industry.
For very competitive terms it is probably 10/90 but for low competitive terms it is 90/10.
So there is a curve on this ratio against the amount of competition.

What would you say the ratio is for a brick and mortor restoration/remodeling business in a suburban neighborhood?
