You need only to set up your default directory indexing, which establishes the canonical location for the start page within the directory.

You accomplish this with a 301 redirect to the domain or directory url.

Be careful however, when redirecting directories to their folder url, you must supply the full url of the folder in the redirect. If you do not, then the requests for your folder start page will be redirected to the domain url.

Today, I was doing R & D on benefits of web page extension.

I found that: Top SEO blogs have developed URL structure without extension.

I have idea about FTP folders & dream viewer pages.

Will URL structure without extension help more in SEO?

This is my mind bubble. I just search on Google & found this thread. This is too old thread but, think to add my question on same thread rather than start new one.

No, just as TLDs make no difference, page extensions don't either. Just think about it, a html page doesn't make it more relevant than a php page. Blogs don't have the extension by default rather than design. It's the way blog platforms work rather than something that has specifically been set up that way. In other words, even the blogs doing very poorly don't have the page extension.
oops! I think I got that wrong! Sorry
