I like Urchin - I will be writing a detailed review on it from an SEO/SEMs perspective over the next week or two.

Some thoughts
What do you want it to do? Figure that out first before you go shopping.
Host yourself? Hosted by someone else? Buy? Rent? Do you just want it for your use? Or for client copy (reports etc). If so you need something with nice reports and pictures (clients like pictures :-) ) Can you customise each report or will the program only allow one header/footer.. etc What about detail? They all have varying emphasis on certain things. WebTrends is awesome from a corporate point of view (great interntal tool). Urchin seems to be an awesome tool for hosting companies looking for a premium solution.. otherwise very expensive. Clicktracks is my current favorite for working on retail sites (pointless for portals or data/info sites really). Do you need to archive? Put reports online? Does it provide a range of options: SEO Detail (who from where doing what) or Marketing (what campaign, who , what % etc etc ). Technical (what files, how much, what time from where etc etc). Take some time, download every demo you can find and learn everything you can about log files. It may sound trite but every freaking geek sets up servers in their own images and damned if they don't have shades of format that don't work across all log file analyizers. Find out what log formats you will be needing .. find out before.. it will suck if you get something that won't read the format your hosting company will provide... Good luck! ;) Mike
