Web Log Analyzers?

I'm getting real frustrated with web log analyzers that are confusing and do not display stats and graphs to my standards and needs.

Anyone have any suggestions for good web log analyzers? What is everyone using out there?

I'm looking for Windows 2000/XP based systems that analyze raw apache logs.

as an aside, how does that work? All the analyzers I've seen have been web based. I use awstats, but it' doesn't give you the actual link people clicked in on like extreme tracker, which of course isn't standards compliant...

We use urchin on a few sites. It is "ok" in my mind. I would rather have a lot more information displayed on each screen. I guess I just like it when I am inundated with information. Urchin seems too simple at times. I would really like to have one that caters to the SEO crowd.

I am considering ClickTracks which looks really cool. Anyone have experience with it?

I would love to hear anyone's opinions that has used both Urchin (with js and .gif's enabled) and ClickTracks that could give some pros and cons of each ... any takers?

In the past I have used WebTrends and AWStats but neither offers the detailed clickstream analysis I am looking for.

Well I am using SurfStats right now, and it is very very detailed, however I don't feel that it presents me with the stats in the way I want. Like most people, I am used to awstats, so getting used to other log analyzers really is tough.

Do you use cpanel? If so, go to the "raw web log access" or whatever, and download the .gz file locally to your hard drive. Then go get "SurfStats" from tucows.com or whatever and follow the directions to parse the file.

ClickTracks is pretty sweet. Has a very aesthetic layout, but is like 400+ bones.

I use VisitorVille. It integrates a log analyzer with a hosted service, and uses a SimCity like metaphor to display your traffic. Very cool 8)

I have tried Analog, and 123loganalyzer. My advice: don't even think about them!

I use SmarterStats, installed by my web host as part of our package.

Seems adequate. 1/2 of our traffic comes in as no referrer. Their customer service rep said that the source is often blocked at the browser. We are aware that we get many visits from people while at their offices. Does this info from the provider sound right. 1/2 of our traffic w/no referrer is a lot. Supposedly all quieries from SE's come through.

Does not provide thorough path traffic. We don't need every piece of raw data. We have seen many visitors coming in from a couple of odd search term traffic and not getting off those pages. That is plenty of information to make changes.

Very curious about the percentage of traffic that comes in as no referrer. Does that sound reasonable?

Dave

Sounds about right. Also if anyone types your URL in the address bar (easy URL to remember), uses a bookmark, comes from an email. All that is no referal too.

If you want accurate path traffic you need to get a web analytics suite but those cost ALOT (depending on the amount of traffic you get)

Talking Deepmetrix LiveStats

This is what my hosting company uses... It is amazing, gives me the keywords that people found the site with on the search engines. It also gives geograhically stats, telling you where the visitors come from.. It gives my site everything I need. Have also set it up to let me know if bots have visited the site.. Love the stats!!!!

What version of Urchin are you using? And which modules?
