Why would it do that !!!! If that was true most of the websites on the Internet would have been penalized... IPv4 is becoming a rare commodity, Google cannot expect ppl to start taking dedicated IP for their website.....

@amit~ exactly, i have a dedicated server with many domains on! and i get penalised, it seems im penalised more then these blackhat spammers out there! G will only penalise sites on the same IP that link together. You lost me there....if they are unrelated and they swapped or brought links it seems that they have brought links which is against Gs rules. I mean if both sites are unrelated i.e. a computer site and a chemist site that sales Viagra, why would they swap links? Who that reads an article for example on lets say the newest Windows Operating System just released why would they want to buy drugs to enhance their sex lifes? The fact it is untargeted, and no one really wants to. The only reason why they are linked together is to pass on their PR. Dan |

I think this is a debate that will continue to go on and on.
I've read in other forums that their has not been any evidence of any site being hurt from linking to sites from same ip address only link farm related sites. I'm not sure if sites are hurt if they trade links with sites with same IP but I try to split sites I own on different locations to try to combat that just in case. Yes it is usually cheaper to host multiple sites in one spot but to be on save site I divide them on 4-5 differnt locations. I don't think a few number of links between sites sharing same ip is bad, but I would say there would be a number where may be a threashlevel.
