URL advice / help

Hi

I am creating a website in Joomla using a component for the search engine friendly url etc.

The compontent is called SEF Advance

http://www.sakic.net/products/sef_advance/

Anyway , using the componet some of my URL's come out a litttle strange eg.

http://coolasfunk.com/site/the_cool_and_the_funky/funky_cool_stuff/rumormill:_sony_ericsson_k620i_is_mediatastic.html

notice the ":" in the URL also

http://coolasfunk.com/site/the_cool_and_the_funky/funky_cool_stuff/runco_plasmas_rev_up_sd_broadcasts_to_%22near_hd%2 2.html

notice the "%22" in the URL

there are various examples of "%" then some number there , i understand why this occurs , ie url ecndoing etc but will this be a problem for SEO in the future if there is a %22 etc in my URL ?

Thanks for the help

No the %20 won't be a problem, but the url length will. Cut it down or do a rewrite and keep it below 2 subdirectories...preferrably 2

Both are too long.

Are you optimizing for "site"? Put your best keyword right after the domain name. And get rid of the stop words.

I'd suggest:
http://coolasfunk.com/cool_funky_stuff/product_name.html

Don't overdo the keywords in the URL. Users like hacking urls and the longer they are, the less likely it is that somebody is going to post the link on their site.

Ok some of thios problem is because im using Joomla and the components are only configurable to a certain degree etc..

But i will get rid of "site" as there is no need for that Dir.

I gotcha about the keywords , it just comes from the title of the post but i will keep an eye on that too some of its from Rss feed so i guess cant do anything about those items etc.
