Trying to link build but I think i'm failing

Hello Everybody,

I made an informational health site (with all original content) and I was trying to link build. I submitted to Dmoz but I figure it will take sometime for that to set in because of the reopening of dmoz last week. I put the link in wikipedia and sent it to yahoo's free submission (which I also heard takes forever). I don't know where to find links for health directories. I have good quality content but I don't know where I would find a link for health related sites. I got one link from a webmaster but I keep looking and I keeping hitting a brick wall. Can anyone help me with this? I am just trying to find links where people want to link to a good quality health site.

The best place to start is by looking at your competitors sites and seeing where they get their backlinks.

Another "obvious" place is free directories - those with a "health" category (or something similar)... you could also search for "health directories" and health forums where you might get the opportunity to join up and contribute and add some links back to your site (if the forum allows) - although these might not do you too much good you could find that the publicity (within health circles) gains you a few free one-ways

The DMOZ submission may take a while but - if successful - will likely result in a bunch of free links from sites that take their listings from ODP

Normally propogating links is a thankless task and there's usually a point where you think you're getting nowhere when suddenly you take a leap forward... which gives you the incentive to keep going!
