Lightbulb To achieve top position...your site must be in DMOZ..other directories..is it so?

Is it true that to reach top position...your site has to be indexed in DMOZ directory? or any other directory....because with my experience, I found the each and every top position site already indexed in the well known directories....although their pr is law.....as compare with the site which is not indexed in the directories.....
Is It True?
Our site is still not have been indexed in DMOZ...after 3-4 months of submission...

I am confused. Guide me...

No, it isnt true. Links to your site is the key, not links from dmoz, though they will do no harm..

A DMOZ listing is a little piece of a huge puzzle. It is worth taking the time to submit a well thought out, clear and concise entry as well as following all the rules.

It is not neccesary, however, in order to rank the the search engines. To me its greatest value is in the fact that many small niche and geographical directories use their listings to supplement their own. The benefit of the DMOZ listing is not having to hand submit to each of these small directories. This does not mean that you cannot submit yourself. It just is a bit of a time saver.

DMOZ have gotten so much talk because of the PR benefit and their seemingly "exclusive entry" policy. The first can be replaced by a couple of good related links on other sites. The second is just a "status" thing and is unimportant when it comes to rankings.

DMOZ is a must to submit to (as it is worth the time) but is not the end all for ranking well. In fact it is a tiny part so as Ron Popeil might say "Submit it and Forget it".

Or if you are looking for a way to check the status of your submission, check out the FAQ in my signature.

Why would it be true? My site is on a pagethat has PR0 at DMOZ; and I only get one visitor per month from there.

DMOZ is just so overrated

DMOZ in and of itself is overvalued. But, many major and minor directories, including Google, use the DMOZ directory as the basis for their directories. That, DMOZ being the mother of all the smaller directories, makes it the highest priority of all directories to be listed in. Being in DMOZ assures being in many many more directories. If you can get in.... great. If not, it is not the end of the world.
