    Title tag phrase order question

I'm trying to improve the Google search ranking for my wedding photography website, so I'm sure I'll be asking more questions in the future, but I wanted to start with a basic question about my title tag. Here's my current title tag:

“LA Wedding Photography | Orange County Wedding Photographer Los Angeles”

After doing some research, it seems like more people type “Los Angeles” than “LA”. If I were to flip the positions of “Los Angeles” and “LA” so it looks like this:

“Los Angeles Wedding Photography | Orange County Wedding Photographer LA”

Could it possibly help with the rankings when people type in search terms like “Los Angeles wedding photographer” or “wedding photography Los Angeles”? On the other hand, could it possibly do more harm than good because I'm changing the title tag? I've already changed my title tag once in the last six months.

    Thanks,
    Josh

    Yes, to both.

If it is wrong, you ranking could drop, if it is right, your ranking could rise.

That's why you experiment. Just like you're doing now.
In the past when I have changed titles on a page, as often as every 3 weeks, if it's a positive change I leave if not I adjust.

    Suggestion...
    Before making any change
Track and record all the ranking stats you can get, to look at later. Record for say a month.

Now change your title as you have suggested. Then collect the same data again.

Now compare the two, choose best performing.

So do the research, which would include examining the title of my top ten competitors as well, but IMO, Los Angeles.

Not looking at your sites structure.
You can use one title on one page and use the other on a different page.
Personally I'd make my home page Wedding Photographers in Los Angeles and create an additional sub page thats titled Los Angeles wedding photographers (like maybe your about page, with information about wedding photographers in the Los Angeles area) , then show some of your work on another page called Los Angeles Photography.

Thanks for the great advice. If I change something in my title tag, what is the appropriate amount of time to wait in order to tell if it was a positive change?

If it's not a positive change and I change it back to the way it was before, will my rankings go back to the way they were before the change? Is there a certain period of time that you can change your title back and expect to see your rankings restored?

    Thanks

    Yes,
That's why you do only 1 thing at a time, unless you really know what you're doing.

You can use both keywords for different pages. While using it, vary the keywords by adding some words in that keyword. Phrase match for any query is also beneficial. Optimizing one page repeatedly for same keywords may provide good rank for few days, but it will be more effective and will remain for long term if some variation in those keywords is used.
