Switching from http to https in analytics

We are moving our site from http to https. I know how to switch this in google analyitcs. My question is that when we are switching, we are also cleaning up the urls making them more user friendly. For example, www.boardsdirect.co.uk/store/white-boards is switching to www.boardsdirect.co.uk/whiteboards. When I switch my site from http to https and change these urls is there anything else I need to do in google analytics apart from change the property settings to https?

    Words of advice..

Make the switch to https first. Do not change the urls at this time. After you verify that you have make the change to https and all is working correctly. Then and only then make the url changes to the more seo friendly urls.

This way if you make a mistake, you will know where the problem is and it will be easy to correct. The switch to https should only take a few days to verify all is correct. You should see all http traffic dry up and go away in GSC within a few days, 3 or 4 days at the most.

Thank you for the advice, but this isn't really possible. The reason for the change is that we are actually launching a new website because we want to move to magento. We are launching soon so all of the urls are now sorted. Are we likely to experience problems with this? All of the urls are being redirected to the corresponding page on the new site

There is always the chance you can forget a minor detail. If you do one thing at a time you can fix things as they occur. When you make multiple changes at the same time it can make it harder to track down the culprit responsible for any drop in rankings or traffic.

Personally I would switch the site over to https now while the new site with it's url changes are being implemented. This way you have everything concerning https done and over with. Then when you roll out the new site if you have any issues you know it is with the site change and not the https switch.

Just saying..... you will find it easier to fix any issues this way.

You have to also change in goal URL. Means you have to change contact us page in goal URL in google analytics.
