Strangest thing, or not!?!?!

Hi there...
The strangest thing happened yesterday....
I recently put up a site, and i wanted to try to optimize it for the search engines...
This would be my first try, so i spent all day long (this friday) reading threads on this forum, and trying to follow all the good things that people are talking about around here....
So i did, meta tags, content, alt attributes, title for href's....optimizing it for starters for these keywords "organizatie studenteasca"....
The site is in Romanian, and this would be the main keyword people would search, as http://eurovox.ase.ro is a students organization....
After searching for my main keyword on googlerankings.com, the result for my website and "organizatie studenteasca" was a 160-170 position....displaying an old page, that was on the server before...the new index wasn't even indexed yet.....

Next day, saturday morning, i thought i'd check googlerankings again, and i was very surprised to see the new page on position 3....

I'm telling you, i was really shocked, believe me...
I did a search on google, and , bingo.....the number 1 site after "organizatie studenteasca" was eurovox...my website, the new index...........(googlebot must've gotton there, and indexed my fresh content...)

Man, that was great....until an hour after that, when, on doing the same search....the situation got back to "friday".....same thing, no new page, no number 1, or 2, or 3, no nothing.....just a 27 position displaying a page that has a link to my site.....

I think this is just a temporary situation, and tomorrow when i check google, my page will pop up in the first position again....or not?

your high ranking is both the result of your optimization efforts and Google's new page bonus. Not be surprised if your pages drop off the first result page after a few weeks.

"New page bonus" - is this a definate bonus, or just hear-say?

Back on track....the page was number 2 this morning on the same search on google...

This is not a really "a new page", as it's only a retouching of the existing site (the site was there for more than 6 months, and had a PR of 2)...

But , for now, site (the new index) is on the first page of results, so , i hope it stays there....and in the mean time, i'll be optimizing it further, hoping that i can mantain its position...

Certainly does exist. And has been around for a while to some degree. My site was dropped from google about a year ago (nobacklinks) and I resubmitted it. After G crawled my site, it sat at #2 or #3 for about 2 weeks even with no BL's. then it fell back to 60th page. Now with more BL im back up to #1 for my main keywords again.
