"We only show sitelinks for results when we think they'll be useful to the user. If the structure of your site doesn't allow our algorithms to find good sitelinks, or we don't think that the sitelinks for your site are relevant for the user's query, we won't show them.
At the moment, sitelinks are automated. We're always working to improve our sitelinks algorithms, and we may incorporate webmaster input in the future. There are best practices you can follow, however, to improve the quality of your sitelinks. For example, for your site's internal links, make sure you use anchor text and alt text that's informative, compact, and avoids repetition."

I've had some luck getting the right sitelinks for my clients' sites.
Internal linking and site structure seem to be signals that search engines use to see how your site is structured. As an example.... Let's say your site is ABCclothing.com and that you offer clothes for men, women, and children.... Organize your link structure and site content so that it's organized under these categories...
abcClothing.com/mens-clothing
abcClothing.com/womens-clothing
abcClothing.com/kids-clothing
Be sure to update your sitemap and have internal links point to the "index" of these categories where appropriate. If you're doing any PPC, I'd recommend adding a landing page to these categories as well to help ensure search engines are seeing each of these separate categories.

Sitelinks are auto generated by Google. You can improve quality of sitelinks by improving your website's internal links, anchor text, ALT text etc.
We have no control over site-links which are displayed by Google. All you can do is to have a well-defined navigation structure of your site and Google will pick the relevant one it finds to display.
