Site with 4 languages

Hi all,

My site has 4 international flags which point to index-fr.php / index-it.php / index-es.php / index-de.php

All of them point to the correct site in that language, my question is, all of my backlinks point to index.php.....will I need all of the backlinks x 4 to each seperate language file?

I have a seperate meta_tags.php which holds data for all of the files. I also would like to know how I can get yahoo.fr and google.fr to look at my index-fr.php and the same with yahoo.it and google.it to look at my index-it.php?

Does this make any sense? sorry for being very simple.....

Hi Darren

Right - firstly yes you need all relevant back links pointing to each different language page.
I would only use on back link from one site to one languae - not all of the languages.

Also -you say you have an include file for your meta tags. Is your keyword the same for each language?
If this is the case thats fine but if not change it. Also - do your keywords and descriptions appear in the text of each fo the 4 pages.
If not change it!

I would also get links from sites in each language and that are actualy located in that counrty.
This could be half the problem.

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers

Dam that means I need to start a whole linking program again for all my other index files...I presume the anchor text will also have to be in that language

The keywords in the meta_tag file are in the different languages, for example my english site has the meta tags in english and the words on that index.php in English, then in the ITalian section, I have the keywords in italian and also have them in the index-it.php. This is the same with teh descriptons..... So i gather this is correct?

I would also get links from sites in each language and that are actualy located in that counrty.
This could be half the problem.

So you are saying If i now conectrate on the links for the italian and french sites (index-it.php and index-fr.php), I need to only get links from sites that are in that country?

Thanks for the info tstolber

Hi ya

Thats about the size of it.
You can realy consider them to be seperate pages - they are not duplicate content as they are in different languages and as such they are obvioulsy targeted at the same keyword - but in the different languages so yes - I am affriad that you do need to start a new linking campaign for each different language - whats more if you have a link to the site using the keyword in a different language it is probably of no bennefit to that site but is reducing the effect of the page in that language (if that makes sense!)

I hope this helps

If you require more info please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks

Trevor Stolber
