Site submission

I have received a lot of proposals from the SEO experts in regards to obtaining better SERP.

Most of them have mentioned they will resubmit site every month manually to all the SE/Directories. Does that mean you have submit site to SEs like Google/Yahoo/etc... and directories every month to maintain your position or improve?

Hmmm...these "SEO experts" don't know much!

You only need a few decent links for your website to be picked up by the major search engines. In general you only need to submit your site once to directories. If you submit more than the guidelines state then your domain will probably be blacklisted for spamming!

I don't believe it is neccessary to re submit - why would you when the SE already has your site in its index?
It sounds like they are just doing "job creation" in order to make themselves more money - by selling a service that has no real use.

Thanks guys. Not that I have hired anybody to do it because I am learning to do SEO/M

I figured that what is the need of re-submitting site, could they be meaning that they would submit the site to one/two directory/ies every month? That could lead to more crawling, more backlinks leading to better SERP?

You are better off spending your time building content and seeking link exchange partners that will garner you traffic as well.

Big difference between directory submissions and search engine submissions. The former could be helpful. The latter is ridiculous. Ask them what a spider is.

Yes and no. For newbies (I was one once) sometimes a SE has to be triggered. Especially when a site has little or no IBLs from major relevant sites, it might be enough to start the spidering process. Then again, the SE in question may not respond at all, for there might be an uninterested human behind the spider on/off switch ;)

Huh?

Don't waste your time with submissions. Get as many links as you can and it will happen. Paying someone to submit frequently will have 0 effect, except to part you from your money.

Don't get me wrong, you shouldn't submit every month It's just that some newbies (including myself a while ago) are hesitant to go begging for BLs to start with, and can achieve a listing in one or two search engines (including G) by hitting the add url button...

Sure: major IBLs are more effective, they give you spider visits AND PR (the latter now being virtual, but useful nevertheless...)

I don't believe that actually does anything..If someone has proof of being listed in Google with 0 backlinks simply because they submitted, I would be interested in seeing it. Even this forum has a great deal of people who say "I have been adding my url to Google for the last 6 months and they still havent indexed me"

My advice would not be to a newbie "Just keep submitting". If you are hesitant to ask for links to your site, even recip, you are going to have a whole lot of trouble being succesful.
